Trelai Primary School Sport Karate Class. (Trelai Tigers)
Trelai Primary School Sport Karate Class was formed in January 2003 as a subsidiary of the Welsh Freestyle Kickboxing Organisation.
Students are taught Sport Karate with the aim of promoting Martial Arts within the school curriculum with the ultimate goal being a Welsh Primary School Sport Karate League.
Trelai Tigers were the first school to join the league but couldn't wait for other schools to join, so after only four months of training and anticipation, they wanted to test their skills and so entered the first of the W.F.K.O. Welsh Junior Championship Series.
The successful results were:
Daniel Dyer 1st Place Light Continuous.
Kyle Johns 1st Place Light Continuous, 2nd Place Semi Contact.
Mitchell Facey 2nd Place Semi Contact.
Joanne Keeler 2nd Place Light Continuous.
Steven Drewen 2nd Place Light Continuous.
Sophie O'Connor 3rd Place Light Continuous.
Also competing getting through to the quarter finals of their categories were Curtis Williams, Taylor O'Connor and Luke Clements.

School Headteacher Mr Brind O.B.E. stated that he was very proud of the Trelai Tigers first tournament success and is looking forward to a new sport growing within South Wales Primary Schools.

Chief Instructor Mr Mal Johns and World Champion Miss Leanne Emmerson couldn't have asked the students to perform more gallantly on the mats and look forward with great expectation to seeing these students promoting Sports Martial Arts in Wales.
