Steel City Shotokan is a small karate club in North Sheffield practicing Shotokan karate. Founded over 15 years ago, we have a long history of producing good students with excellent standards. The chief instructor, Kevin McGrath is a 4th Dan and has been practising karate for over 25 years. The club instructor, Adam Senior, has a 2nd Dan and has been training with the club for over 12 years. Together they have over 30 years experience of teaching karate. We teach traditional style Shotokan karate up to brown belt (3rd kyu), comprising the basic katas, techniques and sparring. We also work heavily with pads, believing that a technique is useless unless it is applied, and perfected, with a real target. We hold advanced training nights for brown belts and above, where we adapt the basic techniques and work on footwork to give our students a more rounded, free moving style.
